Daniel D Steele
"Dan"

Surrounded by his loving family, Dan passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus; after a hard fought battle against Leukemia, on April 23rd 2014 at Poudre Valley Hospital at the age of 69.

The 2nd of 4 children, Dan was born on March 3rd 1945 to Kenneth and Betty Steele in Redfield, South Dakota. He was raised on the farm there until the age of 15, when they moved to town. After graduation, Dan worked at the Redfield State School before moving to Huron, South Dakota.

On June 6th 1965, Dan married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Gilbert. While in Huron, Dan joined the National Guard; where he served proudly for 7 years. The new year brought them to Fort Collins, Colorado, where he worked in the automotive industry until his retirement in 2005.

Dan pursued his love of golf and he and Shirley enjoyed several amazing travels, including Israel. He worked part-time at his "Fun Jobs", such as mowing the Greens at the golf course, ushering the Eagles games at the Budweiser Event center and gate keeping at Boyd Lake.

Dan is survived by his wife Shirley of 48 years; his son, Brian Steele of Loveland, Colorado; his daughter Tonya (Ken) Jones of Fort Collins, Colorado; three amazing grandchildren, Kayla Bass of Orlando, Florida; Kirstin Bass of Fort Collins, Colorado and Alec Pacella of Loveland, Colorado; his brother, Jim (Linda) Steele of Fort Pierre, South Dakota; his sister Linda (David) Broderick of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
