David C. Mastin, 60 of Boulder, CO died September 3, 2013 at the TRU Hospice Care Center in Louisville. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 7, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th St., Boulder, Pastor John Hess is officiating with Pastor Cindy Frost.

David was born in Grand Junction, CO to Clinton and Esther Mastin. They moved to Littleton, CO where he grew, graduating from Littleton High School in June 1971. He attended CU Boulder and graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering and later also earning a Masters in Architecture. Staying in Boulder, David was self-employed as a Structural Engineer for most of his career. He married Alice Cofty in March of 1995 and they shared many happy years together. In 2006 they moved to Fort Collins from Boulder and recently moved back to Boulder this past June.

David was a man of great faith thru to his heart and soul which was a large part of his life, deeply loving the Lord. Especially important to him were his family, the relationships that he formed in his profession and those formed while facilitating Discipleship and Bible studies at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins. His work and play were always spent thinking deeply and creatively. He was an extremely artistic, devoted person with a generous heart that defined his personality. David loved reading and growing in the Word, sharing that devotion with others and using his professional skills to remodel homes, a passion he shared with his wife. David especially enjoyed hiking, biking, swimming and all things outdoors that kept him active and healthy. His loving nature, great sense of humor, spontaneity and zest for life will make him especially missed by his family and friends.

David is survived by his wife, Alice; son, James Ewell of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter-in-law, Deni Ewell; granddaughter, Indiana Ewell; three sisters, Ellen (Henry) Hissrich of Greeley, CO, Phyllis (Joe) O'Brien of Ocala, FL and Avis (John, deceased) Sinner of DuBoise, WY; nieces and nephews, Misty (Jim) Nordale of Seattle, WA; Tiffany (Joe) Kosmal of Goodyear, AZ; Heidi (Rich) Spanier of Chester, NJ; Henry (Christie) Hissrich IV of Milwaukee, WI; Howard (Juliana) Hissrich of Ft. Collins; Hunter (Kristina) Hissrich of Glenshaw PA; Rhonda O'Brien of Longmont, CO; Meaghan O'Brien of New York, NY; Casey O'Brien of Berlin, Germany; Caton Sinner of San Diego, CA; Jay Sinner of San Diego, CA; as well as the many friends gained throughout his life. His parents and brother, Earl Mastin preceded him in death.
