David Burton Powers of Fort Collins died Sept. 10, 2012, at home after a short illness. A celebration of his life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the home of friend Michael Braskich, 2192 N. Taft Hill Road, Fort Collins. Cremation will take place. Dave was born to Evelyn Cryner and Earl Burton Powers on March 6, 1955, in Winston-Salem, N.C. He graduated in 1973 from Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem, and attended college briefly in Charlotte, N.C. Always adventurous, he moved to Fort Collins with friends in 1975. During his lifetime, David worked and specialized in property management and maintenance, which included working for Mitchell and Company in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He also worked at Brass Key Property Management, and a few months before his death, he worked as a department manager at Jax Farm and Ranch. During the 1980s and 1990s, he lived and worked in Colorado Springs, where he raised his two sons. David will be remembered by those who knew him for his sense of humor, his kindness and his spirituality. He enjoyed listening to live music and once played the drums. David was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn of Tappahannock, Va.; his two sons, Davis Burton Powers (Jamie) of Pasadena, CA, and Nolan Winston Powers (Sabrina) of LaJunta, CO; two grandsons, Weston Robert Powers of Pasadena and Kayden Jackson Powers of LaJunta; a sister, Lynn Ailor (Jim) of Caret, VA.; his niece, Dara Parker of Aston, VA.; and his nephew, Pepper Ailor of Vienna,VA.
