David Peter Schwebach

Dec 11, 1954 — Jan 1, 2023

David Peter Schwebach "Dave" transitioned from life to life on Monday January 1st, 2023, at the age of sixty-eight. He passed peacefully at the home he shared with his wife Lynnell in Fort Collins, CO. Dave had recently come home from the hospital after a prolonged illness and experienced a heart attack. Despite the best efforts of kind and responsive emergency personnel, he did not regain consciousness.

Dave was born to Ben and Betty Schwebach on December 11th, 1954, in Hankinson, ND. He grew up in Hankinson ND and Rosholt SD, the fourth of five siblings. As a child, he loved playing sports, such as baseball, playing with his army men, and playing in the mud. He enjoyed eight-man football at Rosholt High School before moving to Arvada High School, where he began tenth grade.

David married Lynnell Scatterday on December 2nd, 2006, in a small ceremony in Fort Collins. They have resided in Fort Collins since. Dave retired from his long-term career as an over the road truckdriver, after receiving numerous awards for safe and timely deliveries. He loved his work and lamented its loss due to medical challenges. His only frustration with his career had been the necessity of spending several nights per week away from home. In particular, he regretted missing the time with his grandchildren, who he adored.

Dave loved lake fishing but never in a boat. As much as he enjoyed the sport, he did not like being in the water. In his retirement he enjoyed woodworking, creating wind chimes, and gifting others with his art. He was fond of driving his truck and amused by the sound it made after his grandson Liam installed a Cherry Bomb on the exhaust system. Dave was a member of Timberline Church in Fort Collins and had a resolute faith in God.

Dave is survived by his wife Lynnell, sister Lynn Gresge (Gary), sons Tim (Stacy), Justin, Walter, and Aaron Schwebach, daughter Amanda, Jeremy and Jenni Cameron, ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews, and his cherished grand dog, Hank. He was looking forward to the wedding of his grandson Liam to his bride Lexi in May of 2023. Dave was predeceased by his parents, Ben and Betty Schwebach, and brothers Larry, Jeff, and Paul.

A celebration of Dave's life will be held on January 10th at 2:00 pm at Timberline Church on Timberline Road in Fort Collins in the east auditorium, with Pastor John Engel officiating. Goes Funeral Care will oversee all arrangements. The family requests that guests refrain from wearing black or green clothing to the service as Dave would have wanted neither. Per Dave's request, a viewing will not be held. His final earthly resting place will be Golden Cemetery and the graveside service will be a private family gathering.

The family would like to thank physician and friend Dr. Victoria McCarthy, Dr. Austin, and Dr. Muelken, who faithfully and compassionately tended to Dave's medical needs, Timberline Church and pastor John Engel who helped to cultivate Dave's faith, City of Fort Collins Police, Poudre Fire Authority, UC Health EMS, and Larimer County Coroner's office, who empathetically served Dave and his family during Dave's final moments on this earth. Additionally, the family wishes to thank neighbors, Michelle and Jonny and their children for their steadfast and patient help over the past two years and Rachel at Goes Funeral Care and Cremation for her compassionate support through a difficult process.
