Deacon Richard "Rick" Grimler

Deacon Richard "Rick" Grimler, 76 of Fort Collins died September 5, 2014 at Pathways Hospice Care Center. Recitation of the Office of the Dead will be held at 6:30 pm, Monday, September 8, followed by a Rosary/Vigil at 7:00 pm, Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Richard Grimler was born December 28, 1937 in Peoria, Illinois to Emil and Mary Grimler. He grew up in Peoria and graduated with an accounting degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1959. On June 19, 1965, Rick married Judith Murray in Peoria and together they have four daughters. Rick worked as a corporate accountant throughout his career. On November 18, 1979 he was ordained as a Deacon of the Catholic Church and served at the Epiphany Church in Normal, Illinois until 1998. Later that year, he and Judy moved to Northern Colorado and he began his service as a Deacon at St. Joseph Parish in Fort Collins.

Rick is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Judy; four daughters, Liz (and Mike) Stanley of Farmington Hills, MI, Katie (and Eric) Montoya of Parker, CO, Meg (and Derek) Horn of Indianapolis, IN and Susie (and Chris) Humphrey of Parker, CO; and ten grandchildren, Alex Montoya, Mary Montoya, Jonah Montoya, Evan Horn, Jack Stanley, Drew Stanley, Abigail Horn, Cees Montoya, Jack Humphrey and Emily Humphrey. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary as well as his parents.
