Dean Robert Taylor, 73, of Wellington, CO, passed away April 5th, 2021. Dean was born to Cliff and Evelyn (Groshelle) Taylor in Billings, Montana on May 18, 1947. He was raised there and met the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Gayla Sibbit. They were married June 25, 1966.
Dean served in the Army as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. After the war, Dean worked for Carson Helicopters, aiding in long-line construction projects like ski lifts and rooftop AC installations. Dean later worked as a helicopter pilot for logging in Idaho. In 1979, the Taylor family moved to Fort Collins, CO, where Dean owned Northern Colorado Air Charter until 2001, after which he spent time at John Wasson ECE as a production engineer.
Dean enjoyed traveling. He revisited Vietnam for the 50th anniversary of the Tet Offensive. He was also able to visit Thailand.
Dean is survived by his wife, Gayla, of Wellington, CO, his son Rob (Alison) Taylor of Celina, TX; son Randy (Jodi) Taylor and their children Morgan, Rowan, and Soren of Highlands Ranch, CO; son Ryan (Rittie Ann Searcy) and Rittie's children Ritte Marie (and her daughter Rittie Nicole) and Ashley; and daughter Heather (Alan) Schussman and their son Henry. Dean is also survived by his brother Terry (Eileen) Taylor of Leeds, AL, and sister Pam (Tom) Froom of Idaho.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 12th at 2 PM at Windsong Event Center, 2901 Saddler Boulevard, Fort Collins, CO. Then at 5 PM the family is also having a no-host dinner at Charco Broiler, 1716 E Mulberry St, Fort Collins, CO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Weld Food Bank, 1108 H Street, Greeley, CO 80631.
