Debra Ann Summers, age 44 of Timnath, Colorado, formerly of Topeka, Kansas, died May 26, 2009 at Poudre Valley Hospital in Ft. Collins after a brief battle with lung cancer. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in El Dorado, Kansas. Debra Ann Davenport, born February 5, 1965 in Wichita, Kansas, was the middle child of Harold and Nancy Davenport. She grew up in El Dorado, KS and became a Christian at the age of 6, at the First Baptist Church. She loved to play softball and did so enthusiastically throughout her life. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1983 with honors and went on to Butler County Junior College on a softball scholarship, Debbie graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, with a degree in Business Administration. She was manager at The Athletes Foot store in Topeka. On April 18, 1992 she and George Summers were married. She worked for the Kansas Service for the Blind until she became a stay-at-home-mom raising their three children. Due to George's job transfer, the Summers moved to Fort Collins, CO in July of 2007 and now reside in Timnath, CO. Over the years, Debbie worked at other jobs. Her last job was teaching adult education; a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She continued to play fast pitch softball as well as coach her daughters in the sport. She started the Topeka Thunder; the Topeka Fury; and the Rhythm fast pitch softball teams. Most recently when she coached the girls, 12 and under, Xplosion organization in Windsor, CO. Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Harold Davenport, Jr. She is survived by her husband, George; three children, Crystal, Christopher and Carolyn; her mother, Nancy and husband, Charlie Ketterman of Rose Hill, KS; a brother, Brad (and wife, Sheryl) Davenport of Wichita, KS; and her sister, Sherry (and husband, Stan) Cowan of Pflugerville, TX.
