Dee Dianni, in Her Own Words
I was born in 1940 of very loving parents who emigrated from Italy as children. The only grandparent I knew was my maternal grandmother, Lucia. She was a beautiful, reverent and devout woman who had a great influence on my life. She could not read but said if she could, she would read the whole bible. She was a person of great courage and faith.
I was the youngest of four children – a beautiful older sister, Veronica, a wonderful older brother, James (both now deceased), and an older sister, Lucille, who died at birth and whom I am certain I will see in heaven.
I was a very much wanted child after the death of Lucille. Consequently, I received much love and affection in my happy childhood and throughout my life.
My dear mother and grandmother were pillars of the faith and molded me in the glorious Catholic faith I treasure today.
I was able to take three magnificent trips: 1) to Europe, through nine countries which included the beautiful Vatican in Rome, 2) to Spain, Portugal and Morocco, stopping at Fatima, and 3) on a pilgrimage with several priests who said mass every day in the Holy Land, the pinnacle of my travels. The first trip through Europe was a gift from my dear father after he sold his 60 acre property where he and my precious, loving Uncle Nick had a successful rose nursery that they began at ages 18 with mere 7th grade educations! Dad was an excellent provider for his family and was always so generous. Nothing was too much for his family.
Dad insisted I was given the name Dolores. Today I suspect he had a personal, strong devotion to our blessed mother, the Dolorosa. My lifetime of exposure to roses of every color always remind me of her - our Lady Guadalupe for one - and when she appears, she often has a rose at her feet. I envision Heaven as being full of roses. How God blessed us!
I was an excellent student throughout my life and loved learning. I attended college in my adult life and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology, my secret love. I was a listener, a trait given me by the Holy Spirit, I'm sure. I loved to reach out to people and counsel them whenever I could.
I worked in banking for several years in many different departments (they paid my college education) and reached the position of Administrative Officer and Administrative Assistant to the President. I then went on to be a legal secretary and retired in that position. I so loved working closely with the public.
I was a cradle Catholic and was baptized in the Holy Spirit in my thirties. It wasn't until my seventies when I moved to Colorado and entered St. Joseph's Church that my heart and soul came completely to the Lord and His Blessed Mother. I felt equally called to each of them. The Eucharist became my life!
It was my desire to be a disciple in my last years on this earth. I give thanks to Him for my dear family, St. Joe's and especially for the loving care of my beautiful niece, Christine and her husband, Tony.
Praise Jesus Christ!
