Deetta Pearl Winfrey

DeEtta Winfrey left this life on September 24th, 2014 surrounded by her family.
She was born May 5th 1925 on her family's ranch in Las Animas County, Colorado to Fred and Laura Green. She loved growing up and working on the ranch. On November 25th, 1925 she married the love of her life Laverne Winfrey, he told everyone that when they were babies he saw her and knew even then they would spend their life together.

After they married Laverne and DeEtta lived and worked on his grandparent's farm near
Andrix, CO for 5 years. They lived in several different places after that, as Laverne pursued his bachelors and masters degrees in Education. She helped support the family by starting her long career in retail services, retiring from Fashion Bar in Greeley, CO.

To this union was born three daughters: Lela Mae Winfrey, Marylin (Roy) White and Janetta (Randy) Gustafson. DeEtta greatest joy was being with family. Not only her immediate family, but a large extended one as well. DeEtta was a strong believer in the Lord and left this life in that joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, two sisters, Nellie Noe and Thelma Holderman, and brother-in-law Merrill Winfrey. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of DeEtta's life will be held at the Sherwood Park Baptist Church, 3333 W 16th St , Greeley, Colorado on October 14th at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pathway's Hospice, Sherwood Park Baptist Church in care of Goes Funeral Care, 3665 Canal Drive, Suite E, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
