Dennis Godin

Dennis Godin, age 88, of Fort Collins died September 19, 2009 at his home. Dennis was born on August 26, 1921 in Central Falls, Rhode Island to Dieudonne and Eva Godin. He grew up in Central Falls and joined the US Army Air Corps in 1942. He served as an airplane crew chief in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater until 1946. He married Dorothy Gaudet on April 17, 1948 in Pawtucket, RI. After the war, Dennis began work with IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY where he retired from in 1976. Dorothy and Dennis then returned to Rhode Island where he worked as a commercial fisherman for four years before moving to Fort Collins in 1980. Dennis enjoyed fishing mostly. He also enjoyed photography and computers. Most recently he took up playing the harmonica. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; five children, Diane Godin of Decatur, IL; Donald (Rita) Godin of Lansing, MI; Barbara Godin of Thornton; Eugene (Suzanne) Godin of Fredericksburg, VA; and Dr. Thomas Godin of Corvallis, OR; ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, John and his two brothers, Leo and Alfred. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Wednesday, (today) at 2:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 300 West Mountain Ave., Fort Collins. Visitation will be held after 1:00 p.m. today at the church. Full military honors will conclude the service outside of the church. Interment of his cremated remains will be on Thursday at 10:00 am at Foothills Garden of Memory in Longmont.
