Dennis Koch

d. Aug 23, 2023

Dennis was born in Chippewa Falls, WI on 6/21/1953 to Hubert and Gladys Koch. He was raised on a farm, and then the family moved to the town of Eau Claire. At the age of 12, he and his parents moved to West Palm Beach, FL, where he learned to love the outdoors. He became an avid fisherman and hunter with friends Peter, Seadog, John, and Steve. Dennis met his wife Margaret in South Florida. They dated for 6 months, and then Dennis left for Ft. Collins, CO to go to Colorado State University where he majored in wildlife biology. Margaret followed him to Colorado, and they were married in 1977. Having worked as a land surveyor in Florida, Dennis found part time work while going to school in Ft. Collins. He ended up working at Stewart & Associates for 43 years, retiring in 2019. Dennis loved fishing, hunting, and camping in Colorado with family and friends, especially his friend Dean. Dennis was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He could repair anything and would help anyone.

Dennis had a sudden heart attack on 8/23/23 . It was with love and much sadness that he was allowed to die with dignity surrounded by his wife and children on 8/30/23.

Dennis is survived by his wife Margaret, son Colin (Kim) of Temecula, CA, daughter Callie (Alex) of Crested Butte, CO, daughter Bethany (Jerry) of Ft. Collins and his sister Beverly Hill of St. Petersburg, FL. He had 3 grandchildren – twins Scarlett & Walker Koch, and Dionicio (Spanish for Dennis) Barraza. He was preceded in death by his parents Hubert & Gladys Koch and sister Carol Berg.

Dennis loved his 14 year old constant companion, Mason, a German Wirehaired Pointer.

A memorial service will be held on 10/21/23 at Lory State Park at the Timber Shelter at 1p.m.
