Dennis Selby, age 62, died on November 30, 2012 at his home in Fort Collins. Dennis was born April 24, 1950 to Lloyd and Rosemary Selby in Denver, Colorado. Dennis married his wife, Mary, in June 1969 in Denver and they relocated to the Fort Collins area in 1974.
Dennis served two years in the Army and then obtained a B.S. in Zoology from Colorado State University (CSU). He worked as an electrician and later earned a teaching certificate from CSU and taught apprenticeship classes for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 68 which he was a member of for his entire career.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Mary, daughter Michelle Gonzales (husband Art), daughter Diana Selby (husband Johnny), son Paul Selby (wife Kimi), siblings; Guy Selby (wife Mary), Lee Selby (wife Carolyn), Gary Selby and Pat Zarn (husband Willy), and grandchildren; J.P., Thomas, Jakoda, Jozi, and Ani. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arthur.
Dennis was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He put his family above all else. He was patient, kind, and had a light-hearted sense of humor, a positive outlook, and an adventurous spirit. He had a passion for the outdoors and loved plants, science, and history. His hobbies included gardening, wood working, painting, camping, hiking, fishing, biking, golfing and puzzles. He especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.
A burial of his ashes will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver summer of 2013 (date to be determined). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the following organizations:
