Desma L. Burnette Jr.

Desma Louis Burnette Jr. (DL, Desi), 56, passed away surrounded by family in Loveland, CO. DL was born with a gypsy soul in Shreveport, LA. to Desma Louis Burnette Sr. and Walter Marie Locke.

DL and Jean met in Evanston, WY in 1984 but went their own paths. DL tracked Jean down many times over the years. In 2007, DL and Jean were married and shared a lifetime love that survived the years.

DL never met a stranger in his life. He was kind, loving, and willing to give anyone the shirt off his back. DL had a wanderlust that took him far and near. DL loved traveling. He had a wonderful sense of humor and kept us on our toes. He like to prank his grandchildren and try to scare them. On the weekend you will find DL watching his favorite LSU Tiger's football, Dallas Cowboys, and Dale Sr. and Dale Jr. race NASCAR. DL was a great cook and it gave him immense pleasure to share that gift with a lot of people. DL's favorite movie was Lonesome Dove. Most of all, DL loved his family. He loved being a husband, brother, dad, and grandfather.

DL is survived by his wife Jean. His children – Shay, Brian, Andrew, Jessica and Rhonda. His siblings -Carolyn, Becky, Lonnie, Raymond, James, Diana, and Debbie. His grandchildren – Amber, Summer, Faith, Joseph, Lorelei, Aidan, Lulani, Madison, Alakih, Silas, Amari, and Jeremiah who is on the way. His great grandchild – Aidan. Also, too many friends to count. DL is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronnie, and sister Lucy.

Pallbearers are: Andrew Herndon, Brian Dennehy, Shay DeLeon, Rhonda Burnette, Casey Dennehy, and Aidan Campbell.

Honorary Pallbearers are: Sean Dennehy, Alakih Dennehy, and Seth Wolfe

Viewing is 11am – 1pm at Immanuel Community Church at 1725 W. Mulberry Road, Fort Collins, CO.

Funeral Service will follow at Immanuel Community Church.

Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery after the service.

There will be a reception following services at Casey Dennehy and Heather Schnorr's house at 609 Timberline Rd., Fort Collins, CO.
