Diane Elaine Hoeflicker

On April 11, 2013 at 9:47pm, in Fort Collins, CO the world lost a radiant shining soul. But, what the world lost, heaven gained. Surrounded and comforted by her family, Diane Elaine Hoeflicker, age 64 made her peaceful final journey home.

Diane Elaine Hoeflicker was born April 27, 1948 in Denver, Colorado to Leonard and Irene Werth. Diane along with her three brothers grew up in Brighton, CO. She attended Zion Lutheran Church and School and graduated from BHS in 1966. She was active in the choir, Walther League Youth Group, and was a 4-H participant. Diane's fondest memories as a child were taking family trips to Estes Park, CO. The beauty and majesty of the mountains captivated her as a young girl. As she grew into adulthood, she embraced the magnificent bond she felt with the Colorado Rockies eventually passing that bond and love onto her two daughters.

After High School, Diane attended St. John's Lutheran College in Winfield, KS, graduating in 1969. While attending St. John's, she met the love of her life Stephen E. Hoeflicker, from Grandview, Missouri; they married on December 18, 1969. After graduation, Diane and Steve settled in Seward, NE, while Steve was attending Concordia University. From Seward, Diane and Steve decided that Belton, Missouri was where they wanted to lay down roots and start their family. Their first daughter Laura Eileen was born in 1975 with their second daughter Erin Elaine following shortly after in 1979.

Eventually Diane and Steve made their home in Lee's Summit, MO, where they remained.
Diane went to work as a contractor for the USMC in the early 1980's; she made many lifelong friends and truly loved her job. She retired in 2008 with 20+ years of service. Diane had an active life with her family; she enjoyed family vacations and holidays. She also loved spending time with friends and co workers. She was an active member of St. Mathews Lutheran Church, and also served on the Alter Guild. When looking back on her life, Diane would often say she remembered those times spent with Steve, Laura and Erin laughing and singing in the car on long road trips or spending time in the mountains playing putt-putt golf. Diane was a devoted wife and was proud of the 34 years of marriage that she and Steve celebrated together. After Steve's passing in 2004, she remained committed to cherishing his memory.

In December of 2009 Diane moved back to her home state of Colorado after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Residing in Fort Collins, first at the home of her youngest brother Larry and sister-in-law Wanda, then to Collinwood Assisted Living and finally Golden Peaks Care and Rehab. She would often express that coming back to Colorado made her feel a great sense of peace. Diane enjoyed spending time with her brothers and their families.

Diane is survived by her two daughters Laura E. Brent and husband Kevin of Scottsdale, AZ; Erin E. Brown and husband Tim of Lee's Summit, MO, Her brothers Richard and Sharon Werth of Littleton, CO, James and Carol Werth of Littleton, CO and Larry and Wanda Werth of Fort Collins, CO; Sister-In Law Karen Miller of Kansas City, MO, Father- In-Law Granville (Bud) Hoeflicker of Kansas City, MO, Five step-grandchildren, Kodey Kayleigh, Sheilah, Justin and Joshuah. and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family .

A funeral service is planned at Zion Lutheran Church, 1400 Skeel St., in Brighton, CO on Tuesday April 16th at 11:00am with a reception to follow. Diane's final resting place will be next to her beloved Steve at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens 25203 East 50 Highway Lee's Summit, MO on April 18th at 11:00 am with a reception to follow at St. Mathews Lutheran Church, 700 NE. Chipman Rd, Lee's Summit, MO

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association and/or Pathways Hospice in care of Goes Funeral Care, 3665 Canal Dr. #E., Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
