Diane Charle Wood

d. Sep 1, 2023

Diane passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on September 1, 2023. She was born to Lillian Kester and Casey Wippert on August 1, 1934, in Los Angeles California. She attended Citrus high school in Glendora and walked with the graduating class of 1952.

She spent summers traveling to Idaho to spend time on her grandparents' farm. While headed home by train one day she ran into a gentleman who after sending letters back and forth later became her husband. She married the love of her life, Francis Wood, on July 30th, 1954 in West Virginia. They spent time traveling the world together by train while he worked for the southern pacific railroad. As a young woman she waitressed at the Great Wall Chinese restaurant and volunteered at the carousel theater in West Covina California.

It wasn't long before they settled in Montrose where they welcome their son Darrell into the world on October 11th, 1955, and not too long after Robin was born April 18th, 1961. It was then she got involved with the PTA and local boy scouts.

As a hobby her mother, sisters and herself took a liking to antiques and depression glass. It became her passion to travel and find the best of the best antiques and she later created a successful business called "Glass with Class".

She was a stubborn but simple woman. She loved yard art and gardening; you could find her out by the pool clipping back her rose bushes or picking peaches off her peach tree. She loved Christmas and would spend days assembling her beautiful snow village. Her favorite color was blue but she loved to wear red, she loved orange dreamsicle ice cream, tea parties and birds. She was always up for a trip to the movies, shopping or to go get pampered at the salon. After the passing of her late husband and mother she moved to Loveland Colorado. In the spring and summer time she would enjoy visits to Estes Park and walks through the sculpture park before deciding the cold winters weren't for her. She took to a life in Albany, Oregon where she spent time visiting the ocean, watching whales, dolphins and sea lions.

Later she ended up back in Colorado with her children for her final years. She liked to be called "Charlie". She made friends everywhere she went and enjoyed reminiscing about the

"Good-ol-days". She found pride in her family's accomplishments and the legacy that she would ultimately leave behind. A month before passing, she spent her 89th birthday celebrating with gifts, cake and laughter at her daughter's family restaurant.

She leaves behind 2 children, 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, a great great grandson, nieces and nephews, and 3 brothers-in-law.
