Dona M. Nye
On the morning of October 4, 2016, our earthly Angel peacefully slipped into the arms of God. Dona was born November 5, 1927 in Edmond, Kansas to Fred and Leona Fitch; at the height of the Great Depression. Dona and her family moved from Norton, Kansas, to Hudson, Colorado. A year later they moved and permanently settled in Ft. Collins, Colorado.
Dona attended Laurel Elementary, Lincoln Junior High, and Ft. Collins High School; graduating in 1945. While still in High School, she worked for the Agriculture Department at Colorado A & M, transcribing notes from the professors. After graduating High School, Dona worked for General Credit Company as an administrative and Insurance clerk. This was the start of her long career in Mortgage Lending, Real Estate, and as a small business owner. In the early 1950's Dona met the love of her life, Jim.
On September 5, 1953 Jim and Dona were married in Casper, Wyoming. They spent 59 years of love, laughter, and tears, until August 1, 2012, when Jim preceded her into God's arms.
Dona is survived by her three children, Cheryl (Marty) Coover, Jim (Nancy) Nye, and John (Kelli) Nye. Seven grandchildren, Jason, Julie, Matt, Sarah, Adam, Tyler and Alexandra. And 10 great – grandchildren, also extended family in Philadelphia, and her special friend Charlie.
Per Dona's request, no service will be held, but there will be a Celebration of Dona's amazing life
on a date, yet to be determined.
