Donald C (Holly) Hollingshead, passed away at home on Friday, May 24th, 2013. He was doing what he loved, getting ready to go to his mountain property.
Donald was born in Cheyenne Wells, CO on May 2nd, 1934 to Lewis Alva Hollingshead and Thelma Irene Noon Hollingshead. He was the oldest of six siblings and graduated from Cheyenne Wells High School in 1953.
He served his country as a Ship Fitter in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1956 as a 2nd Class Petty Officer from Norfolk, Virginia.
Donald was married to Evelyn J. Fraser on July 2nd, 1959 and began their family in Arvada, CO. Don built their first home in Arvada. They had three children Tina, Deneen and Daniel. He started his career working for Sears then moved on to Metro Appliance Service in Denver. They then moved to Fort Collins, CO to begin his business Northern Colorado Appliance Service in 1975. Donald later worked for Colorado State University Housing Dept. for 17 years maintaining all kitchens.
Donald was an avid Denver Broncos fan and only missed 10 home games since 1960. He also attended three Super Bowls. Don was a fan of all the Colorado sports teams. After retirement, Don and his wife Evelyn built a mountain home outside of Rand, CO. He enjoyed spending time there in the summer both working and playing on the property. Country music, concerts, hanging out with friends were just some of his favorite past times.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, his parents and three siblings. He will be sadly missed by his three children Tina L. Hollingshead; Deneen Dawn Gillespie, her husband Scott and their three daughters Melissa Tanfield, her husband Matt, Valerie and Kimberly Dawn; D. Daniel Hollingshead and Al M. Hunt; his siblings Kay Rodlin and Robert Hollingshead.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, June 4th at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Collins. Donald will be interned in the cemetery at Rand, CO on a later date. The family suggests that any memorial donations please be made, in lieu of flowers, to Donald Hollingshead in care of 2013 Ridgewood Road, Fort Collins, CO 80526.
