Donald Melvin Schick was born on February 10, 1936 to Henry and Iva (Honold) Schick on the farm in Bayard, Iowa. He was baptized into the Christian Faith on March 29, 1936 at Trinity Lutheran Church. He was also confirmed at Trinity Lutheran. He graduated from Bayard High School in 1954. He moved to Des Moines where he got a job and took classes at Drake University. He was drafted into the Army and served a tour in Nürnburg, Germany.
After discharge from the Army, he moved to California where his brother Marvin was living to attend a community college. While in college a friend introduced him to Carolyn. They were married in 1965. In 1966, Don and Carolyn moved to Denver where he earned his Bachelors' and MSBA at the University of Denver. Don had multiple careers as a CPA, an auditor and in Real Estate.
Don's greatest joy of all was his family and he delighted in sharing his love for cars with everyone.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, his son Jeff, grandsons Jake and Matt and their mother Leisl. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Marvin, Shirley, Elaine and Loren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Brian and Brother-in-law Jerry Anderson.
On Monday, October 25, the Committal Service will be at Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins at 10:30am. The memorial service will follow at Peace with Christ Lutheran Church (11:30). A luncheon will follow the service.
