Donald Stephens

Donald C. Stephens, age 74 of Fort Collins, CO, died January 12, 2009 at Pathways Hospice Care Center in Loveland. An informal gathering will be held from 5 to 7pm Thursday at the Fort Collins Marriott Hotel, at 350 E. Horsetooth Rd. Donald Clyde Stephens was born February 26, 1934 in Shenandoah, Iowa to Clyde and Vera Stephens. He was baptized in the First Christian Church there. He lived most of his life in Shenandoah and married Karen Goodman on August 3, 1958 in Coin, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry in Germany. He worked for a produce/creamery business and later as a bank officer in Shenandoah and moved his family to Fort Collins 18 years ago. It was here that Don most enjoyed his work; that as an 'at your service' representative for the Marriott Hotel. Don was active in the Masons Eastern Star and Kiwanis. He enjoyed gardening and was awarded "Yard of the month", on several occasions. He loved life and people and they loved him back. He also was known for his beautiful singing voice. Don is survived by his wife Karen; three children, David (and wife, Patricia) of Grand Island, NE, Dennis of Thornton, CO, and Karlene Stephens of Fort Collins; and three grandchildren, Natalie, Angus and Brent. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eugene. The family requests that any memorial donations please be made to family's choice.
