Donna Codd

Jun 30, 1931 — Apr 11, 2012

Donna Mae Codd, age 80, suddenly and unexpectedly left us early to go to the Lord on the morning of April 11, 2012. Donna was born June 30, 1931, in Avon, South Dakota, to Otto and Ella Pudwill. While studying for her Nursing degree from St. Catherine's School of Nursing at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, she met and married her loving husband of 60 years, Dr. Richard Codd. After working two years as an OB Nurse at St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver, Donna and Richard spent two years in Oxnard, California. While there, Richard served in the Navy, and Donna began their family with three sons. In 1956, Donna and Richard moved to Fort Collins to start up a private medical practice. Shortly thereafter, they added a daughter, a son, and another daughter. This was the family they raised in the Fort Collins community. Donna had many special interests including golf, cooking, following the Rockies baseball team, church events, and any activity that had to do with her children's and grandchildren's interests. In addition, she was the ever-successful business manager for Richard's medical practice and other family business ventures. Most important to Donna was an unconditional love for her six children, her 21 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was dedicated to keeping her family connected and delighted in their successes. Donna was always positive with a smile on her face, and no problem was unsolvable for her. Donna was famous in Fort Collins for being the first one to come to the aid of others in their time of need. When anyone needed a helping hand, advice and counsel, or a shoulder to cry on, Donna was there. For all of her life in Fort Collins, she was a dedicated supporter of St. Joseph Catholic Church and School; including St. Joseph Parish Nurses Association and as a Eucharistic Minister. Donna is survived by her husband, Richard; sons, Mike (Nancee) of Fort Collins; Tim (Jane) of Mission Viejo CA; Jeff (Gloria) of Sugar Land TX; Tom (Tanya) of Carlsbad CA; daughter, Cynthia (Dave Wooldridge) of Fort Collins; and brother, Myron Pudwill (Sue) of Lincoln NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Mary Alice. A visitation will begin after 6:30 pm this evening at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A recitation of the rosary will occur at 7:30 pm, with more visiting afterwards. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 9:00 am Monday at St. Joseph Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made payable to St. Joseph School, in care of Goes Funeral Care, 3665 Canal Drive, Suite E, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
