Donna Jean Scheirs

Donna Jean Schiers went home to be with her Lord and Savior and was reunited with her beloved husband, Don, on the evening of October 11,2026.

Donna was Mom, Grandma, and Grandma Great and to her husband, Don, she was DJ.

Family was everything to her, and some of her happiest times were spent bringing everyone together.

Born and raised near Dubuque, Iowa, Donna met Don there and they married February 6, 1960.

Married for 64 years before Don passed in 2024, Donna and Don shared a strong Christian faith that guided their lives and shaped the family they raised together. After spending much of her life in Dubuque, Iowa, and several years in Arizona, Donna spent her final years in Northern Colorado, close to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Camping trips and Sunday dinners were among her most treasured times. She loved caring for others and when her children were teenagers, Donna returned to school to become a registered nurse, balancing her studies with family life. Later, when her children were grown, she decided to earn her bachelor's degree in social work. As a nursing home nurse and a case manager, she devoted her working life to caring for older adults.

Donna enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, gardening with Don, and spending quality time with her family. Donna was a talented piano player, able to play by ear. She would often hear a song and write down the notes, later playing the song on the piano. One of her favorites was 'Beautiful Savior'.

Donna is survived by her children: Mike (Amy) Schiers, Trish Alvarez, Kelly (Tony) Morrison, Lisa (Pete) Carr, and Laurie Otero, 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Donna lived a life of compassion, devoted to caring for others and loving her family.

Her strong faith and love for our Lord comforted her throughout her life. While our hearts mourn the loss, we are at peace knowing she is with her husband. Don, and with our Heavenly Father watching over us.

In honor of her final wishes, Donna's Celebration of Life will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Collins, Colorado, on October 26, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., with a reception to follow at reception to follow at 6049 Mid Pointe Dr, Windsor, CO 80550.
