Dorothy "Dottie" Carolyn Mock

Aug 15, 1930 — Jan 25, 2022

Dorothy "Dottie" Carolyn Mock was a caring school teacher, wife, mother, grandmother,
and friend. Born on August 15, 1930 in Julesburg, Colorado to Don and Carolyn Payne, she
lived a full life of 91 years. Dorothy passed away peacefully on January 25, 2022, in the
comfort of her home surrounded by family and friends.

Dorothy was married to and preceded in death by George Rudolph Mock, Jr., whom she
met while attending Colorado A&M (now Colorado State University). The two were married
on March 21, 1953. A lifelong learner as well as teacher, Dorothy graduated in 1953 with a
Bachelors of Science in Vocational Home Economics and went on to teach many levels of
education from preschool through higher education. She returned to CSU to earn her
Master's of Home Economics in 1971.

A dedicated member of the Fort Collins community, Dorothy was a kind and welcoming
presence to friends and neighbors new and old. She was a longtime member of PEO,
volunteered her time with the Welcome Center, and was a member of the Fort Collins
Country Club for 48 years. As an avid CSU fan, Dorothy held a position on its Alumni
Association board for many years. Dorothy enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and
gardening around her house on Terry Lake.

Dorothy is survived by daughter Marilyn Pickering and her husband Tom Pickering of
Broomfield, Colorado; son Don Mock and his wife Sharmon O'Brien of Edwards, Colorado;
four grandchildren: Matthew, Andrew, Mackenzie, and Madison; and two
great-grandchildren: Natalie and Erica. She will be sorely missed, deeply loved, and never,
ever forgotten.

The family gives thanks to all the caregivers who have cared for Dorothy in the final years of
her life. No formal service is currently planned. A private family celebration of her life will
be held at a later date.

Donations in her honor can be made to two causes close to her heart: The Larimer
Humane Society and Pathways Care.
