Dorothy Taylor passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Center of Fort Collins on July 7, 2016. Dorothy was born on December 21, 1928, in Northfield, Minnesota, to Beth Street Henry and Ralph Ledyard Henry. Following a long line of Henry and Street family members who attended Carleton College in Northfield, Dorothy graduated from Carleton College in 1950 with a B.A. in French. She earned a degree in elementary education from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. She was an elementary school teacher for 5 years in Rochester, Minnesota. Dorothy's first marriage was to Bill Farrall. She lived in Grand Island, Nebraska, for several years where she raised her children and was the bookkeeper for a family business, Farrall Instruments. She married her second husband, Jim Taylor, on January 1, 1980. Jim and Dorothy lived in Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, and Colorado while Jim was serving as a UCC minister. They retired in Loveland.
Dorothy's hobbies were playing bridge, reading the newspaper cover to cover, and tole painting. Dorothy was known for her sweet and positive spirit. She loved to sing and there was a "song for every occasion".
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Jim Taylor, daughter, Debbie Farrall Haskins (Steve), son Don Farrall (Bridget), and by Jim's daughters Tanya Smith (Jerry), and Sally Bowlby (Wayne), 9 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Robert Henry and Harold Henry. A memorial service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held on Saturday, August 13, at 11:00 a.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, 916 W. Prospect Rd, Fort Collins, 80526. In lieu of flowers,memorial contributions may be made to Plymouth Congregational Church.
