Obituary for Dorothy Ann Wood
October 12, 1927 – October 27, 2016

Dorothy "Dot" Ann Wood peacefully entered the presence of her Lord on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at her home in Severance, Colorado. Her 20 year fight against cancer did not keep her from enjoying life.

Dorothy was born on October 12, 1927 to Charles and Clara Cox in Denver, Colorado. She attended grammar school at Curtis School and then Englewood High School. After graduation, she worked for the First Federal Reserve Bank in Denver. Dorothy grew up across the street from her one true love, Lionel E. Wood, and they were married on June 29, 1947 in a garden wedding at her parent's home. After residing in several locations while Lionel served in the Air Force, they settled back in Colorado in 1963 where they made their home in Boulder. Before Lionel's retirement, the couple relocated to their dream home in Estes Park. After Lionel's death in 1989, Dorothy moved to Fort Collins to be closer to family.

Dorothy was devoted first and foremost to her Savior Jesus Christ and to her family. She was a woman of many interests and abilities: sewing, knitting, crocheting, tatting, quilting, weaving, playing mandolin and guitar, ceramics, Bible study, painting, calligraphy, gardening, basket making, rubber stamping, crafting, natural foods, woodworking, and music. Ever active when outdoors, Dorothy enjoyed birding, walking, hiking, cross-country skiing, camping, and traveling in her RV. She was a member of two RV clubs: the Summer Bummers and the Colorado Columbines. She spent multiple winters in Arizona after Lionel's passing. Dorothy had a heart to serve and was kind, hospitable, giving, adventurous, and very independent. Her wonderful hugs, her smile, and her laugh were her blessings to all.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Lionel, her dear daughter Mary Jane Anderson, and her brother Charles Cox, Jr. Her loving memory will continue to be cherished by her daughter Debbie (Keith) Hickox, her son David (Fe) Wood, son-in-law Greg Anderson(Cindy), 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, her sweet sister Betty Foster, and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held on November 12, 2916 at 1:00 pm at Dayspring Christian Church, 8005 Highland Meadows Pkwy., Fort Collins, CO.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dorothy's name to Camp Elim, 5567 Painted Rocks Road, Woodland Park, DO 80863.
