Drew Evans' zest for life was cut short by a bizarre and extremely unfortunate accident on February 24, 2012. Andrew Eric Evans was born September 15, 1983 in Fort Collins, Colorado to Gary and Cheryl Evans; the eldest of their three boys. He valued his family the most and spent his time with them every chance he got. They'll miss his half-dozen phone calls a day among so many other things. Drew grew up in Fort Collins and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 2002; where he played and lettered in football. At Boltz Junior High School, he participated in football, wrestling and track. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in Troup 283. He was a gifted and fearless snowboarder and wake boarder; as well as having other natural athletic abilities which he made look effortless. Drew and Bryce spent many wonderful and crazy hours snowboarding in the back country while roommates at Utah State. After high school, Drew attended Utah State University where he majored in Landscape Architecture. He had such aspirations for landscape design that will only now come to its fullest potential (designing and creating God's gardens). He served a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Los Angeles, California, in Spanish Speaking congregations, assisting the community where he became fluent in Spanish . His mission was a life changing time for Drew. He has often said "It was the best two years for my life". His experiences there helped solidify his belief, testimony and faith in God. Drew will be a caring, compassionate and dynamic missionary in Heaven. Drew loved music. He played the guitar and electric guitar, always hoping to play in a band someday. His mom and dad will always have fond memories of Drew and Bryce's noisy jam session lasting into the wee hours of the night. Their love for music has helped encourage their younger brother, Spencer to pursue music as part of his life too. Drew also had a tender heart for animals, especially his cat, Jazz, that his little brother, Spencer will care for from now on. A funeral service will be held, for all to attend, beginning at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 3rd at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Stake Center at the corner of Stover and Swallow in Fort Collins. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM prior to the funeral service. Bishop Mitch Hanks will conduct the service. Dedication of the grave will occur immediately following the service at Roselawn Cemetery. Drew is survived by his parents, Gary and Cheryl; two brothers, Bryce and Spencer; maternal grandparents, Bill and Verta Koenig; paternal grandfather, Shirl Evans and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends who were so important and special in Drew's life. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Anna Jean Evans and Uncle David Koenig.
