Edith D. Brady passed away on the morning of November 13, 2019, surrounded by family at her home in Fort Collins. She was 94 years old.
Edith was born in 1925 in a small town in Northeastern Colorado. She was one of five children, growing up through the Depression attending grade school and working the family farm. Edith moved to Denver after high school and worked for the Public Service Company, commuting by trolley.
She married Ron Brady in 1946 after a nine-month courtship and were happily together for 32 years. They married on a Thursday, which allowed for a short honeymoon before Ron returned to work as a teacher of agriculture at a high school in Imperial, Nebraska. Ron and Edith moved to Sterling, Colorado in 1947, to Rocky Ford in 1948, and to Fort Collins in 1959 because of Ron being assigned as the Assistant Director with CSU for the USDA Extension Service. Ron passed in 1978.
While raising a family in Fort Collins, Edith worked at Roley's, a local gift store. She loved to sew clothes, knit blankets and other things for her children, and later grand- and great-grandchildren. She was part of the Extension Wives and a 4-H leader. She spent many days in the basement helping finish fair projects or leading 4-H meetings. Edith loved to laugh, to bowl, and to cook meals for a family that grew and grew. She continued to play bridge with friends into her nineties. She was active in different capacities for St. Joseph's Church and school, from monitoring kids during recess, to Bazaar activities, funeral dinners, and the Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her five children, Connie, Terry, Mike, Janice and Doreen. Nine grandchildren (Kristi, Jennifer, Emily, Mark, Jeff, Jason, Tony, Greg and Paul); Eighteen great grandchildren (Brady, Cassidy, Vivian, Bruce, Nate, Matthew, Ben, Eden, Lola, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Emmett, Graham, Arianna, Kate, Claire, Frank, and Charley).
