Ed passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, at Pathways in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was born on March 11, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA to Edward Duster and Anna (Miller) Hurtubis.
He first met Mary Leona (Mimi) Carmosky while both attended the Pennsylvania State University in Pottsville, PA and State College, PA. After he graduated in 1964, they moved to Rochester, New York for his job at the Eastman Kodak Company, and had two daughters. In 1971, when Kodak opened a plant in Windsor, Colorado, they moved to Fort Collins and their son was born.
Ed enjoyed coaching youth sports, performing magic shows as Mr. Magic, owning and operating a retail magic store, HO model train associations with friends, and playing sports. He was an avid sports fan who supported the Broncos, the Rockies, the Phillies, the Nuggets, the Sixers, as well as CSU sports teams.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Mary Hurtubis, of Fort Collins, CO; daughter Dr. Elle Ross (Greg Sahlen) of Scottsdale, AZ and son, Mr. Edward Michael Hurtubis of Fort Collins, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cyndi Hurtubis Jorgensen, who passed away in August 2003.
A funeral mass is planned for 10:30 AM on Friday, June 7, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Fort Collins, CO, with a rosary service to begin at 10:00 AM. Light lunch will be provided immediately following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Ed, to Aplastic Anemia Foundation, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, IBM (International Brotherhood of Magicians), Pathways Hospice, CSU Foundation.
