Edwin Ross Hughes Jr

Aug 16, 1939 — Jan 17, 2023

Edwin Ross Hughes, Jr passed away peacefully on the morning of January 17, 2023. Ed was and still is a great husband, father, grandfather and friend to us all. He will live on in each of us with all the love and compassion he bestowed upon us during his life.

"Cowboy" Ed was born in Ione, California on August 16, 1939. His family ran the horse stables at Kay's Resort out of Silver Lake, California during his youth, where his family spent summers at their cabin. Ed graduated from Sacramento State University where he met the love of his life, Judy. Together they had 3 children and, in the summer of 1976, packed up the family and moved to Fort Collins, Colorado. Here, Ed continued his career with the US Forest Service for over 35 years. Ed was very supportive of the Fort Collins community and all it provided to the family, including the Northern Colorado Corvette Club. Ed was a big CSU supporter of men's and women's athletics and booster clubs. He continued to show his support and enthusiasm for the Green and Gold all the way until the end.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Judy; son Ross and his wife Louisa and their two children Megan and Patrick with extended family; daughter Julie; and son Jason and his wife Rachael and their three children, Alexander, Mykaela, and Morgan and their extended families.

The Remembrance of Life Mass will be held at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Fort Collins on Saturday, February 18 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Pathways Hospice Care Center in Fort Collins or CSU Athletics.

Ed's service was live streamed and is still viewable on Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton's Facebook page, which you may access following the link provided:
