Elayna Denae Hughes

Elayna Denae Hughes, born August 23rd, 2000, beloved partner, sister, and daughter, passed away on June 8th, 2026 in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was known for her bright personality, caring for animals, and resilient spirit.

A brave and caring soul who we had the honor and privilege of growing up with and knowing, Laney will be deeply missed and still lives with us in spirit. Anyone who got to know her could not help but also know her warmth, humor, and candor.

Laney noticed and loved the small details that would pass by most people. She was committed to helping others and had a gift of connecting with people in difficult situations. She was passionate about working in the non-profit space and wanted to pursue an education in the field of social work.

Laney valued family, mental well-being, nature, and connection with others. We can best honor her if we all look at our own lives and apply these principles where we can.

She leaves behind her partner, Shane Koson, parents, James and Lori Hughes, and siblings, Hannah Seibert, William Hughes, and Ryan Hughes.
