Eleanor J. Comstock

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor June Comstock, beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend, who peacefully left us on April 13, 2025, at the age of 89. She was surrounded by loved ones at Pathways Hospice of Northern Colorado. Eleanor resided in Fort Collins for over 60 years, continuing to share her wisdom, kindness, and love until the very end.

Eleanor was born on July 5th, 1935, in Fairview, North Dakota as the fourth of eight children, and the first daughter to David and Marie Lebsack. She spent much of her childhood in the countryside of Northern Colorado, where she developed a deep love for nature and a strong sense of independence. After graduating from Brighton High School in 1953, Eleanor moved to Denver and worked in banking. Later she went on to become a dedicated Accounts Receivable Specialist for Poudre Valley REA, retiring after a longstanding career of over 38 years.

Eleanor married Paul E. Comstock with whom she had two children. She raised their children with all the love in her heart and was an unwavering pillar of support while sharing in the role of both mother and father, confidant, and best friend.

Eleanor's warmth, generosity, and sense of humor were known by all who knew her. She had an incredible gift for making others feel seen and heard, whether she was hosting family gatherings, volunteering with tax help for Larimer County, United Way, Aspen Club, and RSVP through VOA. Along with volunteering, her retirement years were filled with traveling, bowling, hiking, snowshoeing, walking, and sharing time with family and friends, and was known to make the ultimate fudge! Her life was one of service, compassion, and unwavering faith in humanity.

Eleanor is survived by her children, Bret Comstock (and wife Martha), Cheryl Comstock (and her husband Johnny Montanio), brother Wilbur Lebsack, (and wife Connie), sister Sharlane Moser (and husband Gerald), sister Shirley Bauer (and husband Vern), and brother Allen Lebsack (and wife Terri). She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, both two-legged and four-legged, who were touched by her kindness.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M on June 20th at Fort Collins Senior Center, Prairie Sage Room 1,1200 Raintree Drive, Fort Collins, CO 80526. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Cancer Society, or the Aspen Club of Ft. Collins in her memory, as she was always passionate about helping those in need.

Eleanor's legacy of love, grace, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
