Elizabeth Theresa Howarth

Elizabeth Howarth, 87, of Fort Collins passed away after a brief illness. Daughter of Irish immigrants Rose (Black) and Bernard McDonald. Loving military wife and mother raised children Thomas Howarth, Susan Howarth Kelly, Daniel Howarth and Bernard Howarth. Predeceased by brothers Fr. Thomas McDonald, Fr. Bernard McDonald, Peter McDonald and Lawrence McDonald. Survived by sisters Rose Harrington, Eileen Fluhr and 15 grandchildren.
Born and raised in New York City, Elizabeth received her R.N. from Mount Sinai School of Nursing, commissioned a U.S. Navy Officer and served as a nurse in the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Consolation. She graduated from Metropolitan State University and earned a Master's Degree in Nursing from the University of Colorado. A Public Health Nurse Practitioner, she worked for 16 years at the Sam Sandos West Side Health Center in Denver.
Elizabeth loved sewing, reading, particularly the daily New York Times, gardening and woodworking. A long time Arvada resident, she retired to Fort Collins almost 11 years ago.
Her life will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 5450 S. Lemay Ave, Fort Collins, CO 80525 Thursday January 19 at 1:30 p.m. 80525 with interment in Fort Logan National Cemetery at a later date.
