Ellen Davis Peacock passed away April 26, 2023, in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was born May 1, 1950, in Dallas, Texas to Berry and Ruth Davis. After graduating from Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs, Ellen attended college at the University of Colorado in Boulder where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. She then moved to Casper, Wyoming, where she started her family and a 35-year career as a music educator. Ellen retired in 2005 and moved to Fort Collins, Colorado to be closer to her family.
Ellen was committed to lifelong learning. While teaching, Ellen received a Master of Music Education with a specialty in Orff and is responsible for bringing an Orff education program to the city of Casper. Her city-wide Orff concert was an annual highlight of the Natrona County Elementary education program. She was the music director at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, and the coordinator of music education for the Natrona County School District. The pinnacle of every school year was the year end school plays, for which Ellen hand made all the costumes for the entire school district.
As a mother, Ellen was everywhere at once. She never missed a concert, never missed a game, hand made all of the costumes for her daughter's dance recitals and chaperoned every Children's Chorale trip that all 3 of her children went on. In her retirement, Ellen found new enjoyment with her "soggy bottom" swimming friends at the local senior center in Ft. Collins. She was the world's biggest enthusiast of the Liberty puzzle company and enjoyed her book club.
Ellen found no greater joy in life than getting to know and spend time with her grandchildren. She passed on her love of swimming, knitting, sewing, cooking, and fishing to each of them. She will be remembered as a kind, generous, and endlessly loving person by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Janet L. Davis, and her brother, Berry F. Davis, Jr. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Mary Peacock, and their children Janet, Scotty, Tommy, Joey, and Marian, her son David, and her daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Curtis Cockerill and their children, Charlie and Elsie.
A memorial service will be at 11:00am, Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Windsong Estate, 2901 Saddler, Blvd, Severance, CO 80524.
