Everett Lee Conaway, 78 of Fort Collins died Aug 3, 2011 at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins . Funeral service 11:00 am Monday at Goes Funeral Care 3665 Canal Dr Suite E Fort Collins. Interment to follow at Evans Cemetery in Evans , CO . Everett was born January 9, 1933 in LaSalle, Co. to Everett and Bessie Louise Conaway. He grew up on the family farm in Evans, quitting school in the eighth grade to support his family after his father became ill. Years later he was employed by Union Pacific Railroad. He also worked in Cheyenne , WY as a machinist's helper at the Roundhouse working on steam locomotives until steam engines were phased out. He expressed the love of this job often to family and friends while steam locomotives and the railroad remained a passion in his life. Working as a mechanic early on also gave him a life long interest and hobby in auto repair of all types always lending a helping hand and a wrench. He worked at both the Atlas Missile site in Briggsdale and later the Titan Missile site in Denver . Everett married Laurel Jane Kissinger on October 4, 1959 and together they had four sons. In the mid 1960's they moved to Fort Collins where after 30 years with Colorado State University he retired in 1993. Everett was a man of great integrity and Christian values. He enjoyed Country music, especially Hank Williams; played guitar; loved the outdoors; and keeping busy. He was an inspirational man to his children. Everett was preceded in death by one son, Everett Keith in 1977. He is survived by his wife Jane; three sons, Randy (and Alberta ), Earl (and Ann), and Tim (and Jolene); two younger brothers, Marvin and Harold; and seven grandchildren.
