Felipe Nava Garcia, 87, of Greeley, Colorado passed away on Sunday May 3, 2020 at Poudre Valley Hospital, Ft. Collins CO.
He was born to Blas and Maria Reyes Nava on February 5, 1933 in Fresnillo Zacatecas, Mexico. Despite his minimal education, he was an honorable and respected man in his community.
Felipe married Maria Sanchez in 1952 in Jerez, Zacatecas Mexico. They had six children, Arturo, Olivia, Maricela, Armando, Romelia and Ana Maria. Felipe worked for many years at Monfort Beef Plant in Greeley CO. He had a natural ability for gardening and during his retired years he grew delicious jalapeno peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, pumpkin, onion, tomatillo, green beans and corn. He enjoyed sharing his crop with family, friends and church members. He found pleasure in the outdoors, walking, reading his Bible and doing word search puzzles. Felipe was born Catholic and when he immigrated to the USA, he found the truth of the Sabbath and converted to Seventh Day Adventist.
Survivors include his wife Maria; son, Armando of Tucumcari NM; and daughters, Olivia, Maricela, and Romelia of Greeley CO, and Ana Maria of Houston TX; also his sisters, Carmen Shannon of Greeley CO, and Victoria Alvarez of Fresnillo Zacatecas Mexico; two brothers, Blas Nava of Boise ID, and Perfecto Nava of Fresnillo Zacatecas Mexico; 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ezequiel, his eldest son, Arturo, and his youngest grand-daughter, Priscila I. Acosta. A private graveside service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2020. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date and communicated via social media.
