Frances Huffstutler, 85 of Fort Collins, Colorado, died February 5, 2008 at a local nursing care facility. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, February 16th at Unity Church of Fort Collins, 1401 West Vine, Fort Collins. Frances Mary Hewitt was born February 16, 1922 in Manchester, England, to Arthur Hewitt and Mary Kinsella Hewitt. She grew up in Manchester and served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) the women's branch of the British Army during WWII. She met her husband Daniel during the war and with their first child, Keven they came to the United States and settled in Hobbs, New Mexico in 1945. Frances worked as a geriatric and cardiac nurse throughout her career. She lived formerly in Santa Fe, NM and Palm Springs, CA prior to moving to Fort Collins three years ago. Frances enjoyed walking and was an animal lover. Over the years, she took in many stray dogs. She enjoyed nature; was an avid reader; and supported Greenpeace and their cause. She is survived by her daughter, Sheralyn Luplow of Fort Collins; two sons, Byron Huffstutler of Fort Collins and Glenn Paul Huffstutler of San Diego, CA; two grandchildren, Brandy von Kaenel of Denver and Jason Keith Huffstutler of Lakewood; two sisters, Margaret Schwab of Duluth, MN, and Josephine Hodgenson of Bolton , England and one niece here in the US, Maria Powers of Longmont, CO as well as numerous nieces & nephews in England .     Frances was preceded in death by two sons, Keith and Kev e n Huffstutler; two brothers, Tom and Joe Hewitt; and two sisters, Helena Hewitt and Mary Duckett.
