George A. David, age 77 of Fort Collins, Colorado, died December 16, 2009 at the Pathways Hospice Care Center in Loveland. Recitation of the Rosary will be held beginning at 9:30 am Wednesday December 23rd at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 am. Following a reception & lunch at the church, interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from noon until 7:00 PM at Goes Funeral Care, 3665 Canal Dr., Suite E, Ft. Collins. George Allen David was born in Cheyenne, WY to Daniel and Cora David. He grew up in Cheyenne and Fort Collins and graduated from Fort Collins High School. He lived for a few years in Riverside, California and on May 15, 1951 George married Elvira Marie Dinkel at St. Joseph Church in Fort Collins. Together they had three daughters and two sons. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served in the Wyoming National Guard and was a long-time and active member of St. Joseph parish. George was a truck driver for freight lines in Denver and Fort Collins; driving cattle, frozen foods and other freight around the region. He also worked for the City of Fort Collins driving various trucks and equipment as well as working for the water treatment plant. He was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Ft. Collins Moose Lodge. George was also a former regular at the Sportsmans Bar and the Town Pump. George is survived by his wife, Elvira; his two daughters, Sylvia (and husband Dan) Straight of Ft. Collins, Carol (and husband David) Bovie of Grand Junction, CO; two sons, George (and wife Melanie) David, Jr. of Puyallup, Washington and Daniel David of Ft. Collins; his sister, Laura Swords of Hanna City, Illinois; 25 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a nephew, Pat Fitzgerald; and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette Marie Smilie and eight brothers and sisters. Donations in lieu of flowers to Pathways Hospice, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
