Gerald Ihde

Gerald "Jerry" Ihde, of Fort Collins, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Pathways Hospice in Loveland, CO. He was 65 years young when he died of prostate cancer. Jerry was born on March 4, 1944 in Long Beach, CA to Elvin and Lurene Ihde. Jerry grew up on various ranches in the San Joaquin Valley in California. In 1967, he joined the Air Force and served proudly until 1971. On April 18, 1977 Jerry met the love of his life, Barbara Stark of Fresno, CA. Five months later they wed and were happily married for almost 32 years. He is survived by his wife- Barbara, his four children- Gerald Jr., Steven, and Elizabeth Ihde of Colorado, and Jeremy Monitz of California, his siblings- Wesley, and Judith, and his extended family including- aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and his three grandchildren. Jerry will be remembered most for his fun loving, larger than life sense of humor, his passion and talent for working with classic cars, and most of all, his never ending love and devotion to his family and friends. He truly had a heart of gold and will forever be remembered by all who had the pleasure of meeting his acquaintance. A celebration of his life, will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 from 12-4 pm at 511 Aspen Grove Way, Severance, CO 80546.
