Gilbert "Gib" Eugene Ball

Gilbert "Gib" Ball, of Fort Collins, formerly of Shelton, NE, Glenrock, WY, and Yuma, CO, died September 26, 2017 at Good Samaritan Fort Collins Village. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, October 2, 2017, at Good Samaritan Fort Collins Village. Interment with military honors will be held privately at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

Gib was born in Ray, Arizona to Gilbert and Gertrude Ball and was raised in Yuma, CO. It was here that he met Joanne Wolff. The two were married on March 18, 1951 and together they raised four children – Barbara, Nancy, Beverly, and David.

Gib attended Colorado A&M (now CSU), but interrupted his studies to serve his country in the US Army. He served as an artillery officer during the Korean War, was given an honorable discharge and headed back to finish school at Colorado A&M. Gib excelled at the university, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Light Mechanical Engineering. He then began his career with Kansas Nebraska Natural Gas Company as a serviceman, rising to the position of district manager in Shelton, NE before retiring in 1990.

Upon retirement, Gib and Joanne moved to Fort Collins. He was an outdoorsman who loved the mountains and enjoyed hiking. He never stopped learning, taking continuing education classes at CSU. Gib exuded his great faith in the Lord in all his relationships and in all aspects of his life.

Gib is survived by daughters, Barbara Ball of Fort Collins, Nancy Ball also of Fort Collins, Beverly Moberly of Denver and son David Ball (Pam), of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren Erika Graver (Gareth), Megan Ball, and David Ball. He was preceded in death by his wife Joanne, and brother Don.
