Glen H. Meister passed away on January 4, 2008. He was born August 16, 1949 in West Point, Nebraska. At the age of six his family relocated to Reseda, California where he finished school and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon completion of duty he continued his education at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California where he studied Landscape Architecture. He then opened his own company, Sunset Landscape. In 1990 he relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado with Shirley. There he started a new business, Pineridge Landscape. He also worked with Buckhorn Landscape in Windsor before retirement in 2006. Glen was an active member of the American Legion George Beach Post #4 where he served as Chaplain and was a member of the Honor Guard. He enjoyed gardening, taking short trips, family gatherings, socializing with friends, and his cat Roma. Glen had a real joy for life and will always be remembered for his kindness and compassion. He always made time for friends & family and went out of his way to welcome and get to know others. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Grace Meister, son Jason and brother Gale. Survivors include longtime companion Shirley Hanson and her daughters Debra, Tamara, Heidi, his sons Eric Meister of San Jose, CA, Chad Meister, Windsor, CO, two grandchildren Kaitlyn and Colton Meister of Johnstown, CO, brother David Meister of Windsor, CO, sister Kathy Litow of Van Nuys, CA, and close friend Lane Anderson of Fort Collins, CO. He was also "Grandpa Glen" to Kristen, Cheri & Stephanie Hanson, Rachel Garber & Melissa DeSchepper. A family graveside service will be held in the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 12 at the American Legion 2124 N. US Highway 287 in LaPorte. Memorial donations may be made in his honor to the Honor Guard at American Legion Beach Post #4, P.O. Box 966, LaPorte, CO 80535.
