Gloria Jean Gomez

Gloria Jean Gomez, age 62 of Fort Collins, Colorado was placed in Heaven's Care on Saturday January 23, 2016. My mom was born in Elgin, Illinois on August 25, 1953 to Frank and Della Gomez. My mom and her family moved to Fort Collins in 1972. She was married by dad Charles "Ike" Atencio December 21, 1973. Their daughter Lisa Ann Atencio (Contreraz) followed on Janurary 27, 1975. My parents later divorced. I was loving raised by my grandparents Frank, Della, my mom Gloria and my uncle Gilbert Gomez. My mom spent most of her life as a homemaker and caregiver to all of us. She met her very close friend, Joan Welsh in 1988. Joan has become a member of our family ever since. My mom had been enrolled in Adult Basic Education from 1987 until 1990 to better her writing and reading skills. She wrote a state wide award winning essay in 1990. We as a family are so proud of her. She accomplished so much in her life.
All of our family will remember her as a warm, giving and loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her extended family includes Dorothy and Albert Hooker (and family) and the Contreraz and Meza families of Fort Morgan and Greeley, Colorado.
Gloria will be deeply missed and loved by us all.
