Longtime Laramie, Wyoming resident Gloria Jean Thomson, 83, died Sept. 26 in Fort Collins, Colo., at Lemay Avenue Health and Rehab Facility following a hospitalization.

She was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Kemmerer, Wyo., to Margaret Ann (Harrower) Haddenham and George Franklin Haddenham and moved to Laramie in her teens. She married William R. Thomson in Laramie on May 15, 1951, and they had five children.

Gloria was most proud of raising her children and making sure they were well educated. She and Bill designed and built their own home in Laramie and did much of the construction work themselves. Gloria loved music, dancing, architecture and renovating, taking care of and visiting with her grandchildren, growing all variety of flowers and plants, following politics, world affairs, the latest fashions and shopping with her daughters.

Gloria is survived by daughters Suzan Newberry of Gillette, Wyo., Sharon Thomson of Westminster, Colo., and Sandy Aragon of La Porte, Colo., and by son Michael Thomson of Laramie. She is also survived by sister Dana Wells of Soda Springs, Idaho, brothers Donald Haddenham and Robert Haddendam of Riverton, Wyo., grandchildren Jenny Aragon, Jeremy Aragon, Jordon Aragon, Paul Thomson, John Thomson, Shannon Thomson, Stephen Thomson and great-grandchildren Adia Thomson, Desyn Thomson and Kane St. John.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Bill, son John Thomson, grandson Andy Thomson, sister Marva Lee Bray and brothers Bryce, Jimmy and Tommy Haddenham.

The family extends its gratitude to the doctors, nurses and caregivers in Laramie and Fort Collins who tended to Gloria during her illness and for the support of her dear friends Nancy Hoselton, Julie Jackson and Marietta Pond, sister-in-law Mary Thomson and niece Nancy Herth.

According to her wishes, no funeral is planned. A private family memorial and burial will be held at Greenhill Cemetery in Laramie. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
