Gordon Lee Jones, 61, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away peacefully from ALS on Friday, March 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Gordon was born on May 8, 1964, in Sterling, Colorado, to Jimmie and Phyllis (Bringelson) Jones. He attended Sterling High School and Northeastern Junior College in Sterling prior to attending the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado to complete his degree. Gordon went on to build a career in accounting in various capacities and industries for 37 years.
Beyond his professional career, Gordon found his greatest joys in his marriage and role as a father. He was married to wife, Michelle (Varoz) Jones, for 34 years and they welcomed their daughter, Erika Jones, in 2001. He never missed an opportunity to support his daughter's various activities and events. Gordon was a high school basketball official for 21 years to stay involved in the sport he has always loved. Gordon also enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Michelle Jones; daughter, Erika Jones; siblings, Rodney (Shelly) Jones, Gary Jones, Rhonda (Gene) Purdy (Garrett (Wendy) Purdy; Rachel Purdy); and in-laws, Philip (Peg) Varoz, Kevin (Debi) Varoz (Tate, Riley), Amy (Kevin) Duda, Brianne (Alex) Maxwell (Elliot, Pierce, Shiloh, Conrad), Matthew (Megan) Varoz. He is also survived by numerous lifetime friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie (1982) and Phyllis (2018) Jones.
