Grace Wygal

d. Feb 21, 2020

Grace Wygal, age 95, went home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2020. Grace was born to John and Arvilla Gealy in Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania, and was the youngest of seven children. She married Lauren "Luke" Wygal on March 16, 1945 after he returned home from the war. They had been high school sweethearts. Grace and Luke had two children, Gary Wygal and Jill Lawless. After a couple of career moves to Indiana and Michigan, the family moved to Lake Oswego, Oregon in 1963, where Grace became a long-time resident. They joined Oswego Lake Country Club where both Grace and Luke loved to play golf and socialize. They also enjoyed traveling the country and playing other famous golf courses. Grace also enjoyed volunteering through the Assistance League and the Lakewood Center for the Arts, becoming a long-standing Board member at the latter, and a key contributor by forming and managing their successful Rerun thrift shop. Grace was involved in many different bridge groups, was a natural organizer, and loved to bring people together. In May, 2017, Grace moved to Colorado to be closer to her daughter Jill and her family. She found joy in spending time with her granddaughters and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Luke, and is survived by her son Gary (Angie) Wygal, daughter Jill (Steve) Lawless, grandchildren Morgan (Greg) Thorne, Justin Wygal, Andrea (Andrew P.) Lawless, Amber (TJ) Callaway, and her great grandchildren Kendall Thorne, Quincy Thorne, Memphis Callaway, and Aspen Callaway. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Lakewood Center for the Arts in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Go to their website or call 503-635-6338.
