Greg Ree Engler, 73, died December 27, 2024 in Fort Collins. Born January 18, 1951, in Topeka, Kansas, he had been a wildlife biologist and retired from the US Postal Service.
He was the son of the late Patricia A. (Dietrich) Engler and Wayne S Engler. He graduated from Washburn Rural High School, Topeka, Ks in 1969. He was a trombone player in the Skimpy Dozen Band at Washburn. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Biology from Kansas State University. He worked for Nebraska Game and Parks Commission specializing in Geese and Wildlife Management.
He was a member of the Kansas Orchid Society. He custom built his private greenhouse with an antique stagecoach paving brick floor on his small farm near Tescott, Kansas.
He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry W. and Belinda Engler of Fort Collins, two nephews, one niece, five great nephews, and two great nieces.
The family will host a celebration of Greg Engler's Life January 18, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 PM and share memories at approximately 2:30 PM at Fort Collins Nursery, 2121 E Mulberry St, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
Greg's celebration will be a casual, fun sharing of his life birthday party with his favorite birthday cake at his favorite local greenhouse. The family has asked guests to wear their favorite plant, wildlife, bird, and band shirts. He also loved K State and Chiefs sports.
Family and friends will travel to Kearny, Nebraska the last week of March to scatter Greg's ashes at his favorite spot during the Sandhill Crane migration.
