Lieutenant Colonel Guy Dale McCoy, US Army Retired, of Glen Haven, Colorado died November 27, 2019 at the age of 86.
Guy was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1933 to parents Guy and Mildred McCoy. He grew up in Little Rock, where he graduated high school. He then attended the University of Kansas, where he earned a Bachelors in English, as well as his ROTC commission in 1955. Guy then served in the United States Army Armor division for 21 years, retiring in 1976 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
From there, he took up post graduate studies in Records Administration at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California. He worked as a Medical Records Administrator for several years after this at St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco.
On November 25, 1978, Guy married Eleonore Victoria Mary Anna Davis in San Francisco. Victoria and Guy made their way to Colorado in the 1980's, first to Pagosa Springs and then to Fort Collins in 1996.
Guy was an automobile enthusiast and was active in the Rocky Mountain B.M.W. Car Club. He was also a member of the Nature Conservancy, which was a testament to his deep appreciation of nature. He was a Life Member of several veterans associations as well, including the Vietnam Veterans of America, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Retired Officers Association.
Guy is survived by his wife of 41 years, Victoria McCoy, stepdaughter Victoria Brophy, and stepson Mark Hertle. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mona McCoy.
