Heather Christine West

Heather Christine West, age 49, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2019 after a heroic battle with cancer. She was born at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado to SGM (ret) Larry Douglas Robertson and Vera Claire (Snug) Robertson. Heather attended Englewood High School where she developed many lifelong friends. She participated in choir and theatre, and was also on the yearbook committee. She graduated and moved to Maine with her first husband before returning to Colorado to stay. She attended CSU in the early 1990's and worked for CSU police as a student officer. In 1994, she was hired on to Fort Collins police services. While serving as a police officer, she was a defensive tactics instructor and patrol officer.

In 1997, Heather married "the love of her life and friend of her soul," Michael West. Michael had three young sons and Heather quickly became a step-mom, then gave birth to her only son, Zach, in 1998. Heather left police work at this time to serve her family. She loved being a mom and dedicated everything to helping raise her boys. She transitioned into home lending five years after the birth of her son, Zach. She excelled in the field and spent the last seven years with Great Western Bank. There she was promoted into management and took on a leadership role that resulted in many valued personal relationships. She was the top mortgage producer for all of Great Western Bank for 2015-2017.

Her family was her passion which she demonstrated in countless ways. Her love of God flowed from her to everyone she walked with in this life. She gave of herself generously and always strived to "leave people better than you found them". No one did this as well as Heather. She continued to put people first even in her last moments. She has exemplified this by donating her corneas to the Rocky Mountain Eye Center.

She is survived by Michael West (husband), Benjamin (Cale) West, Daniel (Taylor) West, Thomas (Evan) West, and Zachariah Earl Douglas West. Her Father SGM (ret) Larry Douglas Robertson, Step-mother Patricia Robertson, and Step Father Gene Kuhns. Also, her sisters Kimberly Artis and Erin Robertson.

She was preceded in death by her mother Vera Claire Kuhns.

Heather's service will be held at Timberline Church Fort Collins, CO on October 5th at 10:00 am. It will be officiated by Jim Szakmiester. Refreshments will be served immediately following the service and family will be departing shortly thereafter for interment, located at Eaton Cemetery, facilitated by Goes Funeral Care.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be given to Pathways Hospice of Larimer County, or to local Cancer organizations.
