Herbert (Darwin) Swett, 82, passed away on January 29th, 2010, in Loveland, Colorado. He was born May 25th, 1927, in Kidder County, North Dakota to Herbert and Josie Swett. In 1944, he joined the Army Air Corps and served in Germany. In 1950, he married Marjorie Ann O'Hearn. After graduating from the University of California at Berkley in 1957, he began a career as a diplomat with the Department of State serving in Honduras, Washington, D.C., Chile, Vietnam, South Africa and Venezuela. Darwin retired from the State Department in 1977, returned to North Dakota and founded an advertising firm and newspaper. In 1989, Darwin began teaching at Trinidad State Junior College in Colorado. In 1999, Darwin and Marjorie retired to Loveland, Colorado. Darwin is survived by his wife, Marjorie, and their six children, Mark, Dacotah, Sharon, Jeana, John, Tom; his grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Ryan, Aidan; and his sister, Annabelle Kubik. A service was held with family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
