Homer C. Young, age 86, of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Loveland, died April 8, 2009, in Fort Collins. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, April 13, 2009, at Faith Evangelical Free Church, 3920 South Shields St., Ft. Collins. Homer Cook Young was born February 14, 1923, in Ontario, Oregon. He graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. During WWII he worked for Boeing Aircraft and later joined the Army Air Corps. On September 17, 1945, Homer married Laura May Heany in Glendale, California. During his 36 years with Safeco Insurance Company, he worked in various locations and managerial positions. During their early years of marriage and while living in Oregon and Washington, Homer's hobbies involved snow skiing, hunting, camping, and baseball. As the children grew, he enjoyed maintaining his home and automobiles. Most of his life he spent caring for and being committed to his wife and two children. He was a loyal and loving husband and father, and a kind and helpful neighbor. He is survived by his wife, Laura; his daughter, Lois (and husband, Jack) Easterling of St. Louis, MO; son, Brad (and wife, Jan) Young of Ft. Collins; a brother, Harry Young of Johnson City, TN; a sister, Helen Wright of Olympia, WA; and four grandchildren, Jon Easterling of St. Louis, MO, Liz Easterling of Seattle, WA, Laurie Jeffrey and Maureen Young of Ft. Collins. Homer was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lois Young of Seattle, WA; a sister, Joyce Ellis of Seattle WA; and a brother, Warren Young of Eugene, OR. Homer's family requests that in lieu of flowers, any memorial donations please be made to Pathways Hospice or to the Alzheimer's Association.
