Howard Duane Funk

Howard Duane Funk, dearly loved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at age 80 on November 2, 2013, in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was born in Hebron, North Dakota on April 10, 1933 to Albert Ernest Funk and Lillian Johnson Funk. He attended Dickinson State College for two years before serving in the Army. Following his service, he enrolled at Colorado A&M majoring in wildlife management. He was employed by the New Mexico Game and Fish Department working with waterfowl. After three years he returned to Colorado State University to earn his Master's Degree, and was employed by the Colorado Division of Wildlife as a Wildlife Researcher in waterfowl management until his retirement in 1997.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Daphne Funk Abraham. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, LeeAnn Barnard Funk, and children Kristin Howard, Melissa Funk, Laurie Cook (Tim), and Darrell Funk (Teresa), brothers, George and John Funk; ten grandchildren, Stephanie Howard and Nick Howard (Dena); Gertride and Claudia Funk; Tara, Kristi and Monte Cook; and Tyler, Dustin and Courtney Funk, as well as his first great-grandchild, Zoey Olivia Howard.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, followed by a private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Fort Collins ChildSafe c/o Goes Funeral Care, 3665 Canal Drive, Suite E, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
