On Saturday, May 7, 2016, Howard Leavey, age 70, passed away. He died peacefully in his sleep. Howard was born April 8, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York.
Howard grew up in a military family. He graduated from Gosnell High School in 1964 and attended Draugman's Business College in Memphis TN in 1965. Shortly after, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1965 and served 10 ½ years in service of his country. He spent the majority of his naval career aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Forrestal before being stationed in Kodiak, Alaska as a supply chain manager for the naval operating base. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Howard went on to become a successful over the road truck driver for 28 years, driving across the country hauling diverse goods and materials. On October 20, 1984, Howard married his beloved wife, Sharon, in Greeley, CO.

Howard loved history and was an avid reader. His love of history developed into several hobbies which included reenactments of the frontiersman period in US history and model railroading. His love of shooting muzzle loaded rifles drove him to become a part of the National Rifle Association and the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. He became an accomplished black powder rifle marksman.

Howard was always active in his church. He attended Timberline church in Fort Collins for 25 years and served on staff as a Royal Ranger leader for many of those years. His ultimate passion though, was singing in the choir and being a part of the music ministry. He was well known for his deep bass voice and jolly persona. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Howard is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sharon Leavey; his son, Michael and his wife Karen; his daughter Audra, her husband Vince and granddaughter, Larissa; his daughter, Deanna and her husband, Warren; his son, Weston, his wife, Jane and grandchildren, Sadie, AJ, Casja, Ranger, Xander and Axel.
